Animations will open the first day of the festival, as a genre that mediates fantastical and phantasmagorical realities and creatures. By giving life to other worlds, animators collect and bring forth problems, themes, and issues that are normally scattered in our everyday lives.
The end of the day will transition into a multimedia exhibition where Als, Femmes, Witches, and Goddesses come alive.
As the society formed, women godly creatures became overshadowed by their men counterparts. As a result, some others were transformed and made Christian whilst others overstepped into the evil world as witches, als, and hags and continued their lives in fables and fairy tales.
One of the primary motivations behind creating the animation "Samdzivari" is to delve into the ancient roots of our cultural heritage, particularly regarding gendered attributes and roles, while also reigniting an interest in mythology.
As society developed, male gods became more important than female ones. Some female gods were changed or combined with the image of the Mother of God. Others were adapted into Christian icons, while some became part of demonic stories and fairy tales.
The animation shows Samdzivari from the perspective of a child from Khevsureti. Samdzivari is a strong goddess and the chosen sister of Khakhmati, they are always by our side, sometimes seen, sometimes unseen but always untouched and untamed.
Dark and riveting animated short is about a child exploring a shadowy reflection of this world, and discovering that Illumination and darkness within this place originate from inside herself.
